Meridian 21 is the anchor, but Libera Mondo is more than a newspaper. The organisation is built to work on several fronts at once: a newspaper free to read in every language; a network of student branches forming on university campuses; engagement with parliaments and other decision-makers who can act; and a presence across social media and partnerships with activists, so neglected facts and forgotten people travel far enough to matter.

Our programsWhat your support does not buy
Your support keeps the work alive. It does not buy a say in it. No supporter, at any level, sees our reporting before it is published, directs what we cover, decides where we stand, or steers what we do.
We say this plainly because it is the point. A donor who could buy influence would not be supporting independent journalism and advocacy - they would be commissioning it. What you are supporting is something you cannot get any other way: a voice that answers to no one's interests but the facts.
Every supporter, from the person who gives ten dollars once to the institution that gives a hundred thousand a year, is doing the same thing - protecting the work. The tiers below differ in scale, not in standing.

Friend
Any amount, once or recurring.
A first step, at whatever size suits you. Most of our committed supporters began here. If you'd like to hear from us, tell us - a Friend who stays in touch matters more to us over the years than any single gift.
Member
$10/month, or $100-120/year.
The heart of the supporter community. Members are the steady base that lets us plan past the next month and speak with the legitimacy of a real, broad following. You'll receive our regular updates and a clear view of what your support is making possible.
Closer to the work
Some supporters want to be nearer to the work itself - to know the people behind it and understand how it is done. Two levels of support open that door.
Distinguished Member
$3,000/year.
For supporters who want a closer relationship with the organisation: direct access to the director, invitations to our events, and conversations with the reporters and the community leaders whose stories we tell.
Custodian
$50,000/year and above.
At this level, the relationship is the substance. Custodians safeguard the continuity of the work - an ongoing relationship with the director, genuine insight into how the work is done and how decisions are made, a personal letter each year, and complete privacy if they prefer it. A custodian protects what they hold in trust. They do not redirect it.
Giving privately
Some supporters would rather their giving stay between them and us, and for those who work on dangerous subjects this is not a preference but a necessity. We respect that fully. Tell us how visible you wish to be, and we will hold to it.
